Hi All, We should also propose list of suitable/suggested hotels (ideally maybe with some promotions) – and put on website. (It occurred to me because Kirill - who just accepted invite - asked where he should stay. Told him we’ll have list up soonish) Don’t know if Max Planck Society has any special deals/rates with hotels nearby? Else maybe can invoke Cellsense to help here also (since they know area etc. a little better)? All the best, Kareem
Hi Kareem, hi all, certainly that’s something useful to have, at least because it will make it more likely that many of us end up in the same hotel (or area). Jochen/Stephanie can comment about MPS suggestions/rates. I did ask CellSense about this, and they were at first hesitant since they mentioned there’re plenty of hotels and even the ones closer to city center should be well connected. I reiterated it would be nice to still have 2-3 suggestions for the abovementioned reason. I hope they will come back with some soon, but I didn’t give a deadline so not sure how soon we'll have this. Hi Robert, hi Kareem, I’m still in Rome but will speak with our travel department as soon as possible next week. They can probably recommend a few hotel options in Berlin. In my experience, finding a decent, cool, or edgy place to stay is usually not difficult. However, proximity to the venue might be important and could limit how soon we need to book a room. I’ll check with our travel department and get back to you as soon as I can. Since I’m traveling today, I won’t be able to attend today’s meeting. However, I have contacted Birgit Stiller and she would be thrilled to give a keynote and reach out to our “bio” community. Unfortunately, she can only make it on the 25th—are we able to make this work? I also reached out to Bruker after obtaining the relevant marketing and sales contacts, but was unofficially informed (at this week's EBSA conference) that they see our event as potentially promoting competing technologies, which could make them unlikely to offer support. We will see. Best wishes, Stephanie On 03.07.25 12:23, Robert Prevedel via Soc25 wrote:

Dear all, I spoke with Ms. Pranzner (thanks for the tip, Jochen!) from the Harnack House, and they recommend the following option: *Seminaris CampusHotel Berlin* (20-minute walk from Harnack House) Takustraße 39, 14195 Berlin Current price: approx. 154 EUR per person per night (based on phone call with Hotel staff, although the website lists 135 EUR). I called them, and they could reserve 30 rooms for us. (I could probably ask for slightly more, but 70 is not possible for them.) The lady I spoke with mentioned that a price reduction might be possible if we book in bulk; she will discuss this with her superior and get back to me. What do you think? Additionally, the Harnack House is located directly next to the U3 metro station (3-minute walk from Harnack House), with trains departing every 6 minutes. The U3 takes approximately 20 minutes to Wittenbergplatz, where many hotels are available, including: * Mercure Hotel Berlin Wittenbergplatz (~104 EUR) * ibis budget Berlin Kurfürstendamm (~73 EUR) * Scandic Berlin Kurfürstendamm (~107 EUR) * Motel One Berlin Tiergarten (~88 EUR) If at all, how many rooms should we reserve at a lower price? Shall we perhaps contact just the Seminaris CampusHotel and list the other hotels near Wittenbergplatz as options for people to book themselves? Thanks Stephanie!
think it should not be problem to have Birgit's talk already on 25th.
Yes, if travel Buro could provide list of eg 3 suggested places would be great. As Robert mentioned, it is not so much I think that people won't find something cool or even nearby, but rather that people book in same places so not so scattered.
As for Brucker. Yes, let's see. On the other hand it may be of interest for them to scout market potential/landscape and get better feel for eg future endeavors and competition.
Who can make the meeting today at 2pm? (got quite a few cancellations)
Enjoy Rome still! Kareem
