Hi Kristie, Hi Michael, Just got this email that apparently the date for next meeting is incorrect on one part of website – would it be possible to correct? Hi Kareem, I fixed it, but it will probably change itself again! That’s not the first time the date of the Biobrillouin meeting has randomly changed. It’s some kind of bug in the way that events are stored in Kirby. Kristie

No problem! I've made a ton of minor changes and unpublished a bunch of pages. I'm going to start slowly editing the template files and try to add a javascript to the backed for the spectra database. It's slow because Kirby sometimes ends up unpublishing the website and there is no sandbox for testing. The logo still makes no sense to me. Let me know if there are issues you find or things you don't like! On Thu, Nov 28, 2024, 10:08 AM Kareem Elsayad < kareem.elsayad@meduniwien.ac.at> wrote:

Great – thanks Kristie this sounds great! Kirby has its own mindset it seems.. there was a long discussion of whether we should switch to it but web designer at time was very much for and somehow convinced us. Knowing very little of website design; I leave it up to you if you want to stick with Kirby (I guess it might be more work to switch to something else at this point?) Things are also finally taking off a little for Society. I just now heard from a sponsor that want to sponsor society with 5k a year with 3 year commitment. I will write board about conditions soon as we figured more details to see if ok with all. We should also have bank account by end of this year (according to a lawyer we are working with - since this is all more complicated than it needs to be). I will poke more potential sponsors in next weeks, so it’s great to have website as updated as possible to give good impression (since they will probably check there first).. let me know if you need anything. As for logo.. yes, this is funny story and was initiated by wanting to change from one which had map of Europe to something more universal. Not sure now how exactly it came about but it is meant to represent the amplitude of a phonon decaying in a viscous material (essentially the data measured by the time domain folks). I also think it is not ideal since it has nothing (directly) to do with biology (it’s just an abstract overdamped wave!). The only think it has going for it is that it is simple! I am completely open (and in favour) of changing it to something more relevant and less cryptic. If you have any design ideas, or contacts that could do something more appropriate would support.
